Weatherbys’ Private Bankers recognised in the Spear’s 500 Wealth Management Index

We are once again delighted to announce that four of the Weatherbys Private Bank team have been recognised in the latest Spear’s 500 Wealth Management Index – ‘the Michelin Guide of wealth’ – of the top private client advisers, wealth managers, lawyers and service providers for HNW individuals.

The directory features the very best private client advisers, wealth managers, lawyers, and service providers globally, and we are thrilled to have been included. It spans 564 pages and features the leading advisers in fields such as wealth management, tax, philanthropy, property, family law, and more.

Unlike other guides, The Spear’s 500 takes pride in the fact that every adviser and firm featured is included purely on merit. They have been carefully selected for their expertise and dedication to their clients, ensuring the Spear’s 500 remains the definitive, merit-based guide to the highest quality advisory services.

Ollie Barnett, with more than 15 years of experience in the wealth industry, heads up the Bank’s private client team and is recognised once again. Before turning to the world of finance, Ollie served as an officer in the British Army (Scots Guards), where he honed analytical and interpersonal skills that have held him in good stead for a career in banking.

Also on the 500 list is Duncan Gourlay, who heads Weatherbys Private Bank’s Scottish operations advising a highly diverse portfolio of clients located across Scotland, ranging from entrepreneurs to established professionals and landowners. Before joining Weatherbys in 2013, Duncan worked at Barclays Wealth, Bank of Scotland and Adam and Co, looking after private clients and families.

Hayley Robinson who also works in our Scotland office, remains on Spear’s recommended list of high-net-worth wealth managers. As Private Banker, Hayley manages a highly diverse portfolio of clients located across the UK, ranging from entrepreneurs to land owners.

A vocal advocate for empowering women in finance, Shirley Coe makes the list for the third consecutive year having joined Weatherbys in late 2021. Shirley is a senior banker who specialises in an array of financial planning services including mortgage lending, cash flow, tax planning and investment advice.

Meanwhile, Alec Moore, joint Chief Executive at our insurance broking business, Weatherbys Hamilton is a Spear’s recommended 500 insurance adviser as the division continues to grow. Just 12 years on from launch, Weatherbys Hamilton has seven offices across the UK. Already one of the leading brokers in the UK’s bloodstock insurance industry, it has expanded its services to include a raft of insurance cover from property to possessions.

Spear’s is a wealth management and luxury lifestyle magazine, described as a cross between Forbes and Vanity Fair. It is created for the affluent financial services community, including the bankers, lawyers and family offices who advise the wealthy.

Last year, Weatherbys Private Bank was also named Private Bank of the Year for the second year in a row at the 2024 Spear’s Awards.
