David joined Weatherbys in 1999 initially working in the General Stud Book Department before moving over to Weatherbys Bank in 2000, undertaking various roles in the Operations area of the bank eventually progressing to run the Banking Operations team in 2004. However, David’s real passion is for looking after clients so when an opportunity arose to run our Racing Bank division a few years later, David took this and ran this division for a number of years building strong relationships across the industry before taking on a fresh challenge to form and lead a new team in our growing Private Bank in 2014. Having successfully embedded this team, David moved into his current role – Director of Business Development – in early 2020 and now runs a new team which focusses on building relationships with potential new clients, intermediaries, brokers and introducers. David is passionate about building strong, long-term relationships with like-minded people be this with clients, colleagues or with friends and business partners of the bank. He believes that happy staff and happy clients are two key ingredients for a successful business, and he loves to provide good service for clients, and to mentor colleagues to develop and improve and to enjoy their work.He is an advocate for the use of common sense in the banking world.
Pre-Weatherbys David worked for Caudwell Group and Britannia Building Society. Originally from Staffordshire, David continues to follow the fortunes of Stoke City FC despite a lack of obvious reason to do so, and enjoys watching most sports having played a little football and rugby in his younger days. Now based in Leicestershire, David also enjoys musical theatre, good pubs and restaurants, and walking in the local countryside with his family.
