In making their decision, the judges considered factors including changes in market performance, retention of top staff, services and innovation and, importantly, client feedback. They also noted that the business introduced a number of new initiatives during the year, including the launch of Apple Pay and Google Pay, a new client-friendly website and a ‘fighting fraud campaign’.
Duncan Gourlay, Director at Weatherbys Private Bank, commented: ‘We are thrilled to win this award during what has been another challenging year for everyone. We have worked diligently to continue to deliver the close personal service our clients expect from a family-owned business with more than 250 years of history.’
The Spear’s Wealth Management Awards celebrate excellence in the private client world and have been running for more than 10 years. They acknowledge and honour entrepreneurs, philanthropists and others for their innovation, success and outstanding contribution to the wealth management world and beyond. Other private banks short-listed for the award included Coutts, Arbuthnot Latham and Barclays Private Banking.
Ollie Barnett, Director, added: ‘As Private Bankers we also consider events that will impact future generations. For some time now we have been conscious of the changing mood and the need for a cleaner, more resilient world. Our Bank is now carbon neutral and is committed to becoming net zero by 2027. In the summer, our third Creating The Future conference explored the climate change crisis and debated the challenges around sustainability.’
